Lesley has over 40 years experience as an artist and educator of Art & Design. Join Lesley in a relaxing pursuit, meeting friends with similar interests and keeping your mind active by learning new skills. Beginners & Experienced welcome. Location - Artist’s studio in Willunga.
(Lesley also teaches Watercolour Fundamentals at Adelaide Central School of Art in the short course program.)

ACRYLICS
Beginners - Experienced
Learn basic acrylic techniques and mediums. Paint from all genres. Focus on technique, colour & mediums e.g. Palette knife. texture paste & glazing. This class will provide a broad experience and understanding of this versatile medium. Composition, colour & art appreciation will be discussed. Experienced students may choose to work on a canvas over a longer time-frame.

Students will need to bring:
Acrylic paints – Student or Artists quality in tubes. Suggested basic colours:
Cadmium yellow light (cool yellow), Cadmium yellow mid (warm yellow), orange, cadmium red (warm red), alizarin crimson (cool red), dioxadine purple, ultramarine blue (warm blue), pthalo blue (cool blue), hookers green, titanium white
Substrates - A3 canvas pad, or stretched canvas or boards if preferred.
Brushes - Asst sizes Round and Flat synthetic bristle brushes. Sizes 2, 4, 6, a large flat brush, a small round synthetic watercolour brush size 2 or 4
Small palette knife
HB pencil, ruler, eraser
Masking tape 1 - 2cm wide
Palette - a white china plate or disposable sheets with a plastic container with lid to take wet paint home.
Paper towel, kitchen sponge, rag
OPTIONAL -art shirt/apron, texture paste, glazing medium, other colours of your choice.

WATERCOLOUR
Beginners - Experienced
Master step by step basic techniques eg painting from still life, wildlife studies, portraits or landscapes, using wet or dry paper, and a variety of media such as pen & ink and watercolour pencils. Drawing skills are incorporated into the lessons. Enjoy the beauty of this unpredictable medium. Those who prefer to be self - directed can bring along their own projects to work on.

Students will need to bring:
Watercolour paints – Cotman Windsor & Newton or Reeves – pans or tubes, basic set of colours.
Watercolour paper 300gsm cold pressed - A4 or A3 pad
Watercolour brushes, Soft - 3 round sizes 2, 4 & 8, 1 flat large 3/4” - 1”.
Fine tip black marker pen – water resistant preferred.masking fluid

Plastic palette
masking tape
paper towel
salt
wooden board for taping work
OPTIONAL -
Watercolour pencils
gum arabic
black or sepia ink
Mop brush medium or large,
Hot pressed or rough paper.
